How much does running coaching cost?

One of the most common questions I get asked is ‘How much does running coaching cost?’ Before I’ve even had chance to find out more about the potential client or offer my advice on how I could support you through your running training, this question is the one thing most people want to know.

Running coaching costs vary from coach to coach and place to place. Generally the cost of a running coach is very similar to hiring a personal trainer. Anywhere in the region of £25-£75 per hour depending on where you live and the coach you are speaking to.

The cost of working with a running coach can seem quite expensive to some people as I have previously had clients say things like “Isn’t running free and easy to do, why would you need coaching?” “I use an app for my running coaching, it tells me how far I should be running” or “I just put my headphones on and run, I don’t need a coach” all of these statements are valid points. You could actually be saving yourself a vast amount of money on things like buying the correct trainers, avoiding physio appointments and wasting money on running gear that isn’t necessary if you work with a running coach.

If you book a running coach to video analyse your running style and create coaching techniques and drills to improve your running style this could save you a lifetimes worth of injury prevention and pain free running. This is absolutely priceless in the grand scheme of your running life. Spending £50- £100 on a video analysis could be the difference between you reaching your first marathon distance or not.

So if you live in the Hull and East Riding area and you are thinking about the cost of running coaching. Then I would ask you to see the long term value of running coaching, not just the one-hour session you work with a running coach each week.
